50 people are confirmed dead. 50 families are grieving because of the acts of a twisted individual. Friends have lost friends, companions have lost companions. Today is not for political positioning. Today is not for pointing fingers at fellow friends and Americans proclaiming, “I told you so.”
Today is about unity. Today is about coming to the aid of our friends and neighbors and being supportive in any way we can.
It is clear that hate doesn’t discriminate. But you know what? Love doesn’t either. And love will forever be greater than hate and violence, no matter how many attacks are carried out in the name of hate.
Today is a difficult day. People just like you and I are experiencing the widest range of emotions you could imagine. But we have a choice. We can still choose love.
Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of human freedoms — to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.”
Send all the love and prayers you can to our friends in Orlando — they need us right now. Condemn the acts of this senseless murderer, because that’s what this is – senseless and disgusting. Be angry that innocent lives have been lost for no reason.
But don’t let hate fill your heart. That only furthers the problem we now face. Instead, focus on what can be done to be a beacon of positivity in a world that is filled with so much negativity.
As of June 12th at 5:48 PM CST, over $600,000 have been collected for the families who have been affected by this tragedy. The lines at Orlando area blood banks are filled with people waiting to donate blood in order to help the victims of the shooting.
This is the kind of positivity I am referring to. The resiliency of the human spirit never ceases to amaze me. We always have a choice, even during difficult times such as these.
Always choose love, it’s the only way.
